The Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a full-time clinical child psychologist for a full-time faculty position. Ideal candidates will have expertise in providing outpatient evidence-based assessment and treatment of ADHD in children and adolescents, and have a strong interest in a scientist-practitioner position in an academic medical center. While primarily a clinical position, we welcome applicants who have secondary interests in the development of new group programs, participation in the clinical training of graduate externship placement students, and/or clinical outcomes research.

Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at Children’s National

This position will have a primary appointment in the Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at Children’s National with an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Pediatrics, at the George Washington University School of Medicine. The Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health is fully integrated into pediatric subspecialty areas and has close working relationships with Psychiatry and Primary Care. The Psychology Division has a large and diverse faculty who oversee an APA-accredited internship. All faculty members supervise doctoral interns and many also choose to supervise graduate-level externs, given the close relationship of our training program with area graduate schools. Psychologists at Children’s National are part of a supportive group of faculty with active programming and leadership opportunities, including new faculty seminars, faculty meetings, ongoing professional development in DEI, research working groups, and Psychology Committees.

Although the position’s primary focus is on clinical activities, training, research, and other scholarly activities are strongly encouraged. The Children’s Research Institute has a prestigious Center for Translational Sciences Award that provides outstanding resources to support research efforts. There are also numerous opportunities for collaborative research with established researchers in a variety of fields, such as ADHD, school/community interventions, pediatrics, with a large emphasis placed on advancing behavioral research in the institution.

Requirements 

Specific clinical training and expertise in child clinical psychology and a PhD (or equivalent degree), completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship are required. Applicants must hold a DC license prior to start date. Providers currently on fellowship who will qualify for licensure in DC at the end of their training year are encouraged to apply.
