The Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is recruiting a two-year full-time (hybrid) Post-doctoral Research Associate in the UPSIDE Research Team at HPDP. HPDP addresses pressing health problems by collaborating with communities to conduct research, provide training, and translate research findings into policy and practice. The Center is one of 26 academic Prevention Research Centers funded by the CDC, informing national efforts to promote health and prevent disease, with a specific mission to reduce health disparities through an emphasis on community engaged research. HPDP currently supports some or all of the salary of over 100 faculty, staff and students across several UNC-CH departments with approximately 35 active projects funded by the CDC, NIH, IES, NCDHHS, and numerous foundations.

The postdoctoral associate position will join several others at HPDP. They will focus primarily on providing project management for a new Institute of Education Sciences grant to iteratively adapt and pilot test a mindfulness-based social-emotional learning program to be delivered by middle school counselors in rural NC. This position will direct all aspects of program implementation and evaluation, including IRB approvals, participant recruitment and data collection (surveys, ecological momentary assessment, interviews, focus groups). They will assist the PI with preparation of technical reports and dissemination and will supervise research assistants. Opportunities for involvement in other intervention-related research studies to understand and promote self-regulation in children and youth are available. Training will be provided in applied research methods with opportunities for independent research and contribution to manuscript preparation, conference presentation, and grant submissions.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Psychology, Public Health, Human Development, Education or a related discipline at time of appointment. Experience supporting project management on federally-funded research studies and in school-based research is preferred. Annual salary is up to $62,000 contingent on qualifications.
