POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is available in the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department seeks a candidate with expertise in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Childhood or Adolescence, who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program involving undergraduates. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2024/2025 academic year, August 19, 2024.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The department seeks a candidate with a doctorate or who is ABD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or closely related fields (e.g., Counselor Education, Pediatric Psychology, School Psychology, etc.), from a regionally accredited higher education institution. ABD applicants must provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed by the first performance review (March 2025).  Candidates must provide evidence of effective undergraduate teaching and have experience or the ability to teach at least two of the following courses:  Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Graduate-level Counseling, along with Introduction to Psychology. Candidates must also have the ability to integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into classroom pedagogy, course content, research, and / or service activities in addition to a commitment to serving as a mentor for historically underrepresented students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The department considers as assets the ability to bring diverse perspectives to the department and to campus as well as evidence of experience involving undergraduates in research. Candidates with applied experience delivering psychological services to children and adolescents and/or who are licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Wisconsin are also considered as assets to the department, campus, and broader community.

DUTIES: Teach courses as assigned in the Psychology Department. Must be able to teach at least two of the following: Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Graduate-level Counseling, along with Introduction to Psychology. Other opportunities will be available to develop courses in the applicant’s area of specialty. Participate in research and scholarly activities; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the university, the community, and/or the field; and contribute to department/program, college, and university committees.

DEPARTMENT: Eighteen full-time faculty members and one full-time and six part-time academic instructors in the Psychology Department represent a broad range of specialty areas including Liberal Arts, Neuroscience, Behavior Analysis, and an accredited School Psychology graduate program. We serve more than 760 undergraduate psychology students, 220 declared minors and over 30 graduate students.
