Do you picture yourself living in a charming college town nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains? Would you like to work in a collegial department that values the mentoring and support of junior faculty members? Are you interested in joining a department that has clear guidelines for promotion and tenure? Would you like guaranteed graduate assistants to work with you every semester?

Would you like to work with small cohorts of graduate students in a specialist-level program? If the answer is yes, become a valued member of our close-knit faculty! Collaboration and camaraderie are at the heart of our department and program.

The School Psychology Program at Appalachian State is one of four graduate programs in the Department of Psychology. We admit 8-10 graduate students each year and have a small faculty/student ratio. Our faculty are well-supported by our department chair and graduate school.

The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University is hiring for three 9-month, tenure-track positions. The first position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of School Psychology. Applications are currently under review, but it is not too late to apply!

Second, we are hiring an Assistant Professor (area open) with a research focus related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Hint… that open area could be School Psychology! We would love to make our graduate student/faculty ratio even smaller.

Our third position is for Assistant Professor in the area of Clinical Psychology.

Application reviews for the latter two positions will begin on October 1st.

We want dynamic and dedicated individuals to join our faculty! Please share broadly with your colleagues, including practitioners, early/mid-career academics, recent graduates, and upcoming graduates. We welcome your inquiries and applications!
