APA is seeking feedback from psychologists, researchers, educators, students, regulators, and the wider community for an upcoming revision of the former 2014 Guidelines for Prevention in Psychology, which expired in 2020. The Guidelines support efforts to enhance human functioning and reduce psychological distress over the lifespan through strengths-based health promotion and improvement strategies. APA aims to ensure the revised Guidelines reflect updates in the field as well as current laws, policies, ethical standards, and the evolving needs of the communities psychologists serve.

Reviewers are especially encouraged to identify areas that should be updated, expanded, or added to ensure the revised Guidelines remain relevant over the next decade. The revision process seeks to strengthen guidance for psychologists working to prevent health problems and promote positive health outcomes through efforts targeted at institutional, community, structural and policy levels.
