Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to provide a draft of the 2017 cover of the Division 16 flagship journal, School Psychology Quarterly (SPQ), as seen here. This new cover will appear in the 2017 APA Journals catalog, which will be released fall 2016. In addition to the revised cover, the journal has identified and appointed key editorial board members to continue its work in advancing the mission of the journal: to serve students across the life span by addressing a broad spectrum of topics that affect students, schools, and the environments that surround them.
In addition to its facelift, the journal’s corresponding table of contents will reflect headings to distinguish the variety of content it offers. Future issues of the journal will have headings as follows:
Advances in Methods: Quantitative, Qualitative, and Mixed
Brief studies
Empirical articles
International perspectives
Reviews
Special Sections
In an effort to ensure that SPQ continues to deliver high quality, impactful research, the new editorial team has been bolstered to include substantial statistical/methodological expertise. The editorial team has several special sections in its pipeline: autism, diversity, immigration and non-suicidal self-injury. We invite you to submit topics of interest, or possible collaborators that may want to serve as guest editors of future SPQ issues.
Finally, and most importantly, the quality of any journal rests with the papers selected for publication. To this end, the composition of the Editorial Board is internationally renowned for its expertise across a wide array of areas important for the science and practice of psychology as applied to schools, youth, and psychological, behavioral, social, and/or academic outcomes. Please consider SPQ as the primary outlet for your submissions, to ensure the high quality and reputation of this important journal. Attached here, please find a copy of SPQ general call for papers, which is also available on the journal website located http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/spq/index.aspx.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Richard C. Gilman
