The APA Committee on Rural Health is seeking nominees from the following target areas: (Two to be elected for a 3 year term starting Jan. 1, 2018)

SLATE 1: Person with expertise or knowledge of agricultural and/or community psychology, specifically interested in candidates versed in issues of farming, ranching, and farm labor populations, and how these issues relate to mental health and/or migrant health.

SLATE 2: Person with research and/or clinical expertise in substance use in rural and remote populations; with an understanding on substance use prevalence with suicide, interpersonal violence, and other high risk behaviors.

**To be considered for nomination to CRH, nominees will be asked to provide a current CV and a 500 word personal statement of why the nominee is interested in serving on the Committee on Rural Health.**

The Committee on Rural Health seeks members to fill two slates and who are interested in the full breadth of issues affecting the health of persons living in rural and remote regions. The Committee on Rural Health (CRH) encourages the nominations of early career psychologists and persons of diverse career backgrounds and professional settings. CRH seeks to uphold the representation of diversity in its committee membership and so encourages nominations of individuals of cultural, ethnic, or linguistic minority; and/or an individual who identifies as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender; and/or a person with a disability. Also, CRH seeks individuals who are currently or have been past participants of the National Health Service Corps program, are strongly encouraged to apply.

REPRESENTATION FOCUS:
The Committee on Rural Health will consider any nomination that meets the requirements for nomination submission (CRH requirements: APA membership, CV submission, 500 word personal statement submission).  Given the nature of the Committee’s mission, CRH makes a conscious effort to review the committee’s regional representation in consideration of nominations. Here are two considerations about the current committee composition through December 31, 2017:

The current composition of CRH does not have members representing (by either work or residence) states in the central and north central region of the United States, such as: CO, IA, KS, MN, MT, ND, NE, NM, OK, SD, TX, WI, or WY.

The current composition of CRH does not have members representing (by either work or residence) states in states in the far north east region of the United States, such as: CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, or VT.

Every nomination is equally weighted during the review process, however, nominations are strongly encouraged from the regions listed above.
